To stay engaged with your team/manager whilst working remotely, you can use the specific working from home check-ins. These check-ins encourage you to highlight any personal or practical concerns you may have, discuss your current work and share the positive contributions of your colleagues.
They enable you to quickly raise any issues around your wellbeing or mental health to your manager, as well as discussing your workload and productivity. If you set one up weekly or fortnightly you'll ensure you're having these conversations regularly with your manager/team.
Our team at Appraisd have collated some research that shows employees are losing out on 1:1 time with their managers due to working remotely.* Doing these working from home check-ins regularly will make sure that your organisation stays connected and remains productive. You can also use our integrated video calling (if enabled on your account) while having your check-in to speak to your colleague face-to-face.
How to set-up a working from home check-in?
Employees - You can set-up a working from home check-in at any time by clicking on the Start a check-in button on your dashboard.
Managers - You can set-up a working from home check-in with your team members at any time by clicking on the Start a check-in button under the team member's name on your Team tab.
If you're already using check-ins on your account, you will have a choice of check-in type when you go to start a check-in - in this instance, select the 'Working from home' template.
Once you've set one up, go ahead and add your comments. Your employee or manager will be emailed to let them know you've started a check-in with them. They can also go in and add their comments. You may want to share your comments with each other prior to the check-in discussion, or you can fill it in during the video call using the questions as a prompt for your conversation.
Unfamiliar with check-ins?
Check-ins are regular conversations between managers and employees and can cover current work, progress on objectives, feedback on performance and general well-being. These are designed to be quick and less formal than a standard review. You may already be using them on your account or this may be your first time. You can read more about how they work on our check-in help page.
Note: these working from home check-ins will only be available on your account if enabled by your administrator.
