Appraisd is announcing the removal of support for Internet Explorer 11 effective November 1, 2021. If your organisation requires (or you prefer) the use of a Microsoft browser, the new Microsoft Edge is the path forward to use Appraisd.
Microsoft announced the end of life for Legacy Edge as March 9, 2021 and they plan to say farewell to Internet Explorer 11 in August, 2021. If you are currently using IE11, we recommend that you switch to new Edge or another supported browser.
September 1, 2021 is the end-of-development milestone for IE11 at Appraisd. This means that, after that date, new Appraisd functionality may not work in Internet Explorer. Also, no non-security related bugs or cosmetic issues will be fixed for Internet Explorer.
What does this mean?
Currently, Appraisd supports the use of IE11 by end-users and admins. After the end-of-development milestone on September 1, 2021, users may experience partial loss of functionality within Appraisd if they do not switch to another browser.
After the removal of the support milestone on February 25, 2022, Appraisd will no longer be accessible from Internet Explorer.
Why is Appraisd removing this?
In 2015, Microsoft released the Edge browser as a replacement for IE. Because of this, Internet Explorer no longer receives major updates adding the latest security and functionality that supports complex web apps like Appraisd.
Appraisd strives to deliver a product that meets our customers’ needs. The increasing gap between Internet Explorer 11 and all other browsers has meant that we needed to expend considerable effort to avoid and fix defects that only appear in that browser. It limits our technology choices and dampens our ability to deliver the reliability and functionality our customers expect.
Because only about 5% of Appraisd users use IE11 to access the web application, we are removing support to concentrate our efforts on the latest browsers with the latest functionality, such as Google Chrome (which 70% of users use today) to benefit as many customers as possible.
What do I need to do?
Update your systems to ensure that your employees can access a browser that remains supported.
